CIVIL SOCIETY CAMPAIGN FOR EFFICIENT PROTECTION OF
PERSONS WITH MENTAL DISORDERS - PHASE II

As a logical continuation of activities conducted in 2014, the program for 2015, again in partnership with the International Aid Network /IAN/ trains and involves different categories of psychiatric practicioners in the process of deinstitutionalization, focuses on the functioning of mental health services and continues advocating for the reform of Serbia's mental healthcare system.

In cooperation with the Citizen’s Ombudsman, the Provincial Ombudsman /Vojvodina/, and governmental and non-governmental stakeholders assembled in the already functioning and higly motivated working group, partner organizations upgrade and diversify the activities leading towards efficient protection of persons with mental disorders by organizing one “job shadowing” tour to the Trieste Mental Health Services for four psychiatrists and a 3-day course of training in practical aspects of community-based care for nurses and medical technicians from Novi Knezevac, Vrsac, Kragujevac and Sombor; paying fact-finding missions to mental health services in 4 above-mentioned towns; producing two E-publications, including a practical guide to the establishment of functional mental health services in Serbia; and, last but not least, by staging a public hearing /parliamentary committee/, a final conference assembling all the stakeholders and one press conference.
